HIGH COURT SUSPENDS CHARGERS FROM BANK TO M-PESA TRANSFERS .

The High Court has earlier yesterday ordered Safaricom and CBK to remove charges they kept as transfer charges, from bank users.

Judge Mugure Thande gave the standing order after a petetion filed by Moses Wafula, who claimed customers are not to be charged any fee for transferring money from their banks to various mpesa users.

He ordered both the two parties to wait until January 23rd when the case will be heard and a final verdict will be determined.

Though the charges were earlier there, they were waived during the covid-19 crisis, on March 16th 2020. Later on the charges were brought back on January 1st 2023.

Moses Wafula has argued his complain saying it is not right for the bank to continue making money from the public through the paybill infrastructure.

The verdict is yet to be determined on January 23rd.
