MONICA KIMANI’S MURDER CASE.
Earlier
yesterday on 16th June 2022, the chief investigating officer Maxwell
Otieno appeared before the court. He told the court that Joseph Irungu who is
also known as Jowie together with his fiancé Jackie Maribe murdered the famous
businesswoman Monica Kimani.
The Chief
Investigating Officer told the court that Joseph Irungu was captured leaving
the place of murder at Lamuria gardens. The officer gave evidence that linked
the two to Kimani’s murder. The Chief Inspector said that blood stains found on
Jowie’s shorts matched the blood of the deceased lying in the bathtub.
On Maribe’s side, the Chief Inspector claimed
that Maribe’s car was spotted somewhere close to the scene of the crime, where
Jowie was in the same car on the night of the murder.
Monica
Kimani passed on the 19th of September in 2018 and his body was
found on the 20th of September in 2018 in her apartment at Kilimani
lying in a bathtub with her throat slit and her hand and legs tied with blood
oozing her body.
Since then trials
have been happening before the court. On 9th October Jackie Maribe and Joseph Irungu were charged with murder. On 15th October 2018,
Jackie and Jowie denied the charges. Jackie also told the court on this same day
that she heard gunshots in her closet only to find is fiancé who had shot
himself.
On January
25th, 2022, a security guard whose ID was found at the scene of the crime,
a caretaker at Langáta Royal Park Estate, and a former Kilimani Deputy OCS
appeared before Justice Nzioka Grace ad gave their statements. The security
guard said he had lost his Identity Card at Langáta Royal Park Estate where he
had gone to do some construction work. The caretaker claimed that he had not heard
any gunshots while the Kennedy Araman who was Kilimani’s deputy OCPD back then
said three witnesses identified Jowie.
Chief Inspector
Maxwell Otieno will take the stand before the court on 11th July
2022.
