GEORGE WAJACKOYAH
George
Wajackoyah was born on October 24th, 1959. He grew up in Mumias
being raised by his grandparents since his parents divorced when he was still
young. His thirst for wanting to know where his mother grew in him forced him
to leave in search of his mother only for him to later land in Nairobi.
Landing in
Nairobi, he did not have stable housing which forced him into the streets until
he became lucky of being rescued by Hare Krishna who offered him a place at the
temple in Ng’ara, when he was at the age
of 15-16yrs.
The Asian
decided to take him to school at Kenya College where he studied for form one
and two. For form three and four an
Asian known as Ramla Ishaman took him to City High School. He finished high
school in 1979 being among the last lot to do the East Africa Certificate of
Education.
He further enhanced
his studies, form five and six through the help of John Joseph Kamotho who funded
his education for all the two years at St Peter’s Mumias. Unfortunately, he was
unable to get grades that would take him to University and he ended up coming
back to City High School as an untrained teacher. He also taught at Ravals
School and later taught at Shikoti girls in Western.
George
Wajackoyah later joined the Kenya Police and worked at Pangani Police Station,
Kasarani Police Station, and later joined the National Security where he worked
for ten years. From here George Wajackoyah was granted a scholarship to study French
at KIA and later did an advanced diploma in French at Burundi.
When Robert
Ouko died in Feb 1990, George Wajackoyah was among the panel chosen to investigate
the case. He brushed shoulders along the way with his colleagues while handling
the case and later got detained for a very long time.
George
Wajackoyah got saved by an American Ambassador who moved him to Europe. He
started his life over again. He looked for small jobs that would sustain his
daily needs among them being digging graves. Refugees in Europe back then would school for
free, and this motivated George Wajackoyah to study law. He studied his
bachelor of law at Wolverhampton while still digging graves then later studied
at the University of London SOAS about immigration law.
He later
joined a law firm where he worked for a while. As his quest for education never
seized he later joined Warwick Law School for his masters
As he was
studying he grew a passion for fighting for the rights of his people, and with
this, he joined the Kenya Pressure Groups in the UK when he was a student
leader at the University of London.
In 2002,
George Wajackoyah joined the University of Baltimore school of law for a master’s
degree. He later moved to California and became an adjunct professor. An
adjunct professor is a part-time professor.
Wajackoyah
decided to come back to Kenya after having stayed in the US from 199 to 2012.
He came back and vied for the presidency seat among 23 other presidential
candidates that were running their campaigns but unfortunately lost.
George
Luchiri Wajackoyah is currently the party leader of the Roots Party and has been
granted his nomination certificate by IEBC to vie for the presidency seat. His
party remains to be the only part that does not ask for money from the
candidates they have running under their party.
