FAKE DEGREES
FAKE DEGREES.
Candidates vying for the gubernatorial seat have always as a mandate had to
at least have a degree from any recognized institution. However, recently after
IEBC cleared most of the aspirants for the gubernatorial race, complaints have
been made that IEBC should revoke most of those certificates since most of the
candidates are possessing fake degrees.
JOHNSON SAKAJA.
Complainants Dennis Gakuo, Evans Kaita, Timothy Ayieko, and Alex Musila have
asked IEBC to revoke the approval certificate from Johnson Sakaja due to his
degree papers being fake. The four complainants claimed that Sakaja’s degree
from Teams University was fake since his name was not among the 2016 school
graduates.
Also, on May 31t the deputy Chancellor of UON, Julius Ogengo in a
verification letter to the DCI sent Sakaja’s transcripts saying that they are
incomplete as they have not been signed by the University and also that he was
not on the record of graduation.
Earlier yesterday, the UON website posted Sakaja as being among the alumnus
and also attached his photo. Minutes later the same page was re-edited and they
left only details that he had stayed at the institution from 2013-to 2016.
After some time, the website was re-edited again and this time they removed
Sakaja’s name completely from the website. UON is yet to answer why the site
was being edited and re-edited.
Also earlier yesterday, The Commission For University Education revoked
Sakaja’s degree from Team University saying that the commission had received
material information about the authenticity of the degree, and by CUE they revoked the recognition of the degree.
CLEOPHAS MALALA
Franklin Shilingi and Fred Muka as the complainants against Cleophas Malala
have raised concerns saying Malala never graduated from USIU.
They also noted that his KCSE certificate bore a different KNEC code
slightly away from the official KNEC code presented to Friends School Kamusinga.
They now want IEBC to take away the nomination approval from him as a certified
candidate for the race until their papers are well checked.
The case will however be listened to on Tuesday next week when Justice
Otieno will give his ruling.
SIMBA ARATI.
In Kisii gubernatorial race, Simba Arati who is one of the aspirants has
also landed in the fake degree allegations.
Complainants Moses Ayieko and Wesley Obangi are now asking IEBC to take back
their approval letter from Arati as his documents are not well stipulated.
The two claim that Mr. Arati is not a graduate of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga
University. They also claim that Arati sat for his KCSE in 1999 and scored a C-,
a grade that would not land him in any degree course
They also claimed that he did not finish his studies at Kenya Polytechnic
College as he got expelled for having led students into striking. The tribunal is
yet to hear his case on June 16th.
MITHIKA LINTURI
Linturi’s complaints claim that Linturi faked his papers from Marathwada University which is now known as Dr. Babwaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in India. High Court is the one ruling the case which is still pending.
GRANTON SAMBOJA
Complainant Jeremiah Kiwoi has asked IEBC to take the granted pass of the
nomination paper from Granton Samboja who is currently Taita’s Governor, saying
his academic details are not right. He said that the governor forged his papers
since Kenyatta University did not approve Granton Samboja as one of their
students.
